I don't recall if she ever wore her hair like that in the film, but for most of Rio Bravo, Angie's hair was up in addition to being red. Those two factors plus her being younger gave her a much different look than that she would become famous for in the 1960s and later. Of course, if you were just looking at her legs . . .
