I'm Jeet on the Interpid server. I'm playing a marksman/scout trying to make it to Squad Leader. I'm currently in Correlia but I forget the town's name. It's the first option you get when you first transport over from the character generator.

Changed my mind. Names Thruga Ipootee on Intrepid/Corellia, I should be on this weekend with that character. Thursday-Friday is reserved for my main "Krale";).

Well Jeet (Peter) and I kicked off the HTF team last night. Had a good time!

Alex, I tried to message you ingame last night but you were AFK. I added you to my friend list.

I'm leaving after work today for the weekend, but I can probably play again Sunday night. Hope some of you guys are on :)

O.k. I created a char this morning on Intrepid > Correlia in city of Kor Vella. Trandoshan Brawler named Klyssk. I'll be playing him some today and some over weekend... Looking forward to playing with HTF's - Can't just forget my main char though :D

Hey guys, I bought Star Wars Galaxies on launch day, but haven't had a chance to play it yet. I created a character (on Radiant I believe), and go through the tutorial, but when I tried to go to a planet at the end of the tutorial, I got a Windows error and it closed the game. Tonight I am going to try again. I would love if somebody could show me the ropes. I am going to make a new character on the HTF server. Don't know what I am going to name him yet, but I was planning on making a Wookie Scout. Once I get going I plan on playing this game A LOT! I am probably going to start playing around 7pm EST. Anybody? Thanks!

Doug, welcome to the party! I wont be able to play again till Sunday, but I'm sure you will be able to hook up with the other HTFers. You can get a hold of them by sending an ingame email. Or you can type:
/tell message you want
ex. /tell Daaklar Hey Daaklar, I'm in the game

See James' list for a list of us on the HTF server.
I'm sure anyone will be glad to show you the ropes!

later,
-Marshall

Im reacreating my character on Interpid James, just a heads up as I might not be able to use the same name.

Everyone and thier mother created a Brawler (including myself:)) so I want to do a different class. I'll either be going Artisan/Scout/Marksman with the intention of moving up the Artisan tree to Master Weaponsmith/Master Armorsmith and Master Artisan for full spec character (we gotta have an artisan!), also will grab Exploration I and for the most part half of the Marksman tree for combat.

The other option is to go Scout/Marksman to start and then move to full Ranger as well as Full Squad Leader with full Pistol Specialist and Range support Specialist (again for combat purposes).

So in other words, no one else is allowed to use those class combos;)

Thanks Marshall. I have one question. Do I need to download and install any patches before I try playing again?

Doug, it'll do it automatically when you log in. And theres been several, so you might have a bit of a wait when you do.

Romier, Your guy sounds like he's going to be cool! I'll be able to train you in int pistol, and int/adv carbine if you end up needing any of those. I'm suprised you found so many brawlers. In all the time I've spent on Tatooine I only met one brawler, and that was my roomate! However, I'm very new to corellia so there is probably lots of stuff I dont know about it.

Thanks again Marshall.

Romier, I hope to play a lot with you guys. Let me know which character route you are going to take, because I was planning on going the Artisan/Scout path, eventually becoming a Weaponsmith. But I am open to changing that to anything but Entertainer & Medic. If there is a particular void in the HTF group, I will try to go that direction.

Doug - When you connect to the game it will automatically update your software for you. If it has been a few days that may take a little while, but it shouldn't be too bad.

Romier - Just let me know what you end up doing with your character and I'll update the list. I've been thinking about what I want my character to be as well. I'm finding that I enjoy the Marksman class, so I may go that way even though I'm already playing one. The other idea I had was to start as a Scout so I can get the Generic Crafting Tool, then pick up Artisan and Marksman (since you do get a pistol in the tutorial). Unfortunately, that sounds a lot like your idea :).... Since I'm currently playing a human, I'll probably end up going Rodian, Bothan, or Maul-ian (can't remember the species right now).

EDIT: Looks like I was too slow - darn all this work over here!!! :) It also looks like I might need to come up with a different character idea... We don't have an entertainer yet, but I just can't get myself to go in that direction. Maybe I could do Medic/Marksman and work towards Combat Medic.

James, I agree, I just can't get myself to become an entertainer. Or a medic for that matter. Maybe I could become a Creature Handler? I will be quite honest, I have no idea what is involved in the progression of abilities. I have looked at the Character Builder Romier linked to earlier, but it went right over my head.

James, thats exactly what I'm doing and I think its a fun combo. You'll enjoy it if you choose it (medic/marksman) and the good thing is that there will be two people that can heal! I also sent you a pm.

Hmmm, maybe I shouldn't be saying this - my build might get taken :). I used the character builder Romier linked to and founds that I can master Medic, Pistoleer, and Combat Medic, plus have two out of 4 trees on Marksman completed, and have 3 skill points left over. Sounds like a potentially interesting combination...

EDIT: Quick question: If I do this build, is there a benefit to picking Medic at first instead of Marksman? Does that get you any additional equipment?

Doug,

If you want to go the Artisan class then more power to you, I can stick with my Ranger/Squad leader skills (which I prefer out of the two but we will need an artisan). Remember fellas that the opening class combinations matters very little. Your character becomes distinguished when you hit the high "elite" specialization classes.

One thing that we do need to remember is that whoever is doing the Artisan tree will need major support from us in combat and money. The artisan class is very dependant on resources and for the most part is a very big "grind". They need lots of money and lots of resources. Its not an easy tree to advance in but it can be great if you have a group of folks helping you out with it.

The reason I bring this up is if Doug for instance goes Artisan we will all have to donate a portion of cash to him every once awhile and if possible resources such as Bone or HHide + more. In the long run this is a great investment because we'll have ourselves a solid Armorcrafter/Weaponsmith etc...

Doug if you do go Artisan I'd highly recommend going tri-specced with Master status in Architect, WeaponSmith and Armorsmith. This will leave you a total weakling in battle (you have us though!) but you'll have a full range of product and can make a serious reputation as a great merchant player that can make every weapon, piece of armor and sell the different types of housing to players (not too mention possibly create a PA hall for us eventually:))

The other direction you can take is Weaponsmith/Armorsmith and Merchant. With these skills you can specialize in player equipment and with the money your making you can buy a deed for a property and place NPC merchants to sell your wares. Basically youd have your own store:). Its fun stuff. The probolem is getting there and Im not lying when I say its a time consuming, arduous and expensive! profession. Thats why we would need to support ya:).

James, I picked medic first, so I'm not sure what you get from Marksman, but, for medic you get some stimp packs, a pistol and a crafting tool. The crafting tool is great because you can use it to create stimpacks. However, if you went with marksman, I dont think it would really matter, because you could always buy a crafting tool.
