Hello all - Been lurking a while and researching - never joined. Just bought 1st house and ready for first real home theatre. All previous experience was HTIB. Here's what I've go so far: Samsung 59" Plasma, PN59D8000 ( going above fireplace) w/ultraslim mount. Pioneer Elite Vsx-51 receiver Samsung Blu-ray player Martin Logan Dynamo 700 Wireless ready subwoofer and wireless kit. Generic "best buy" Wireless rear speaker kit. Looking for advice on which front, center, and surround speakers to purchase as well a's correct placement. Currently looking into Mirage Nanosta 5.0 satellites b/c space is limited. Was planning on putting either 2 or 3 speakers on mantel below tv but they can only be about 3" high. Room is total about 11-12' from tv to end of couch. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated. Thank you. Eric

As Casey says over the fireplace is a bad location for a TV as is causes many installation problems as far as speaker placement. But the big problem is the set is far to high for proper viewing and will give you as stiff neck after a few days. Forget what you see on HGTV and look for another location for your set.

Thanks 4 the replies. There are zero other options 4 the tv location. We've got 1 wall for a couch and just above fireplace for the tv. Electrician is coming to chisel a hole in the brick to make an outlet and place for the wires. As for the angle and stiff necks, we bought a tilt/ swivel mount to move to our liking. Do you think that will help? The wires wil run directly next to the fireplace to a media table w/components. Is that an okay place for speaker placement or should I mount below tv? Also- ideal sitting distance for a 59" plasma? Thanks! Eric
