I am in the process of researching for my theater setup on what audio equipment to get. Gonna turn my garage into a dedicated home theater. Thinking about getting the Onkyo TX-NR3010 and not too sure about the speakers yet. Looking at the Klipsch RF-7 II system and adding two more surrounds. The question I have is i want to connect four Velodyne EQ-15 inch subs on each corner of the room, do I need a seperate amp to power them, how do I connect them? Would i just use two Y-connectors on the reciever pre-outs? I have seen many setups with one or more extra amps connected just never knew how they worked.

Yes, you use Y connectors.Amps are for passive DIY subs.

So the Onkyo should have plenty of power to run the subs?

The AVR doesn't power the subs. No AVR has since 2003.Your Velodyne(like 99.99999% of the subs sold) is self-powered.
