I have a "home theater" in my great room -- not ideal, but workable until I build one in the basement!
The issue: I have to move my JBL S26IIs (rear speakers) out of the room to keep the wife happy. I will be needing to buy speakers to hang on the rear wall.
My couch floats about 6 feet off the rear wall. I have a 57" widescreen TV set up on the opposite wall (the room is 17' wide total). On each side of the TV, I have a JBL S36II as my mains (must be 7-8' apart) and a center channel above the TV.
I have to place my rear speakers 9' (yes, nine feet!) above the floor due to an opening to the breakfast room. The speakers must be fairly small so I can hang them on the wall. They can be up to about 12-14' apart.
Two questions:
1. What are some reasonably-priced (under $250/pair) speakers that fit the bill?
2. How should these be mounted? In other words, which direction should they point (straight, angled down, etc.) and is the wider distance between them better?
Thanks for the help (and helping save my marriage).
