Hey folks.
So, I'm moving in about a month and I will finally be building a worthwhile HT area. It's a condo, my living room is roughly 20x12. I'll be getting a new plasma, probably the 50" Panasonic VIERA G10. Been reading lots of good reviews on it. I will be probably getting a PS3 for my Blu-ray player, or a maybe a standalone one. I will also have a Wii and my DVR cable box to connect to my receiver. So, the first thing I need is something that will be good for up converting a variety of signals to play through the 1 HDMI connection to my TV. Also I guess I need a receiver that does HDMI 1.3? I don't know what the differences are in versions but I'm just assuming the higher the newer/better.
It seems like everything is 7.1 speakers now, but I don't really think I'll need all 7, 5.1 should be fine for me. If I had to get 7.1, I would probable still just have the 5 speakers going...
I have an 8 year old Yamaha 5.1 receiver now and it's been great, but the reason I want to upgrade now is mostly for HDMI, so I can have everything connected to the receiver and it'll do all the switching and converting I need.
So, on that note, can anyone recommend some good and new and halfway affordable models to look into? I can go as high as $1000, but I'd like to keep it closer to $500 if possible.
Thanks
