Well, we differ on how great the S2 was/is and that's where the dopey commercials started. From there it devolved into whether or not LTE is fully baked.

What question was I supposed to
answer? I am at work and trying to
juggle a few things on this end so
I have been half paying attention.

"Hoping history does not repeat itself...."
The question was which history? The bad samsung ads? The iPhone that was so unsuccessful that it sold more than all of its competitors combined, save Samsung? The industrial design that was so uninspiringly evolutionary that it's catapulted Apple's iPhone division alone to be worth more than all of Microsoft? The choice to eschew technologies that were not fully baked instead of waiting for them to be awesome and not an anchor?

Well, Sam, as usual, you mix truth with fiction.

The Samsung ads were not bad. In hindsight, very truthful.
Apple makes a great phone that sells millions based on their
name, but their progress with each release have been incremental
at best.

Even what is to be announced today, if based on what has
been already revealed, has raised a rash of disappointment.

Of course iPhone 5 will sell millions, but there is no doubt that
Samsung has made a dent in the market with their sales of the
GS3, and that in great part has to do with people's waning interest
in what incremental improvements have been done with Apple's brand.

I kid you not -- 3 co-workers and 1 friend (Steven Simon who you
know from this board) all switched to Galaxy S3's this past week
because they were bored with the iPhone and saw more boredom
ahead with the leaked specs. If nothing revolutionary is announced
today, none of us are looking backwards.

Of course, you'll keep clawing your way out of a box trying to
convince people otherwise. That's fine. I am certain people are
getting tired of seeing us debate the issue.

Sam,

Of course, as usual, your crawling your way out of a box trying
to attack the opinions of others that disagree with you.

I have already explained the reference of this thread title.

...but you'll still mock it despite that the opinion of the thread
title remains mine....and still truthful for me today as it was
the day I wrote it.

...and it's not just my opinion the iPhone 5 is a dud. Obviously,
members on this board have recently migrated over to android,
and the Samsung Galaxy 3 has risen to be quite a contender
for the iPhone.

All of that has been discussed before ad nauseam but you
continue to go down this road. Of course the iPhone 5 is going
to outsell every other phone. It will continue to do that. Do you
think you are surprising anyone with that report you linked to?
But it doesn't mean iPhone 5 is right for everyone, and that's
quite apparent when considering how much success Samsung
continues to have with their android phones.

Can you just simply move on or is it going to be your mission
to try and mock the opinions of others? It's really getting old
and tiring.

I'm not the one who started a pejorative thread in the Apple forum =p
Clearly the phone is not a dud. It may be less on the cusp of every new technical innovation out there but that has been the story of every successful Apple product. Disrupt the status quo by rethinking basics and removing rather than adding features, carefully refine over time. And when those carefully considered new features are added they aren't going to cover every expert's use case but they will be remarkably easier to use for the average user.
If you want to dance on the blade of new innovation Apple is not and never will be the vendor for you. If you want stuff that just works for normal routine use, it is.

Sam,

Move on. You come across as a lunatic continually
trying to prove your point.

The title of this thread represents MY opinion.

It's like you trying to talk me or anyone else into
converting from one political party to the other.
No matter what you say, it ain't going to happen.

I am not sitting here slamming Apple for being
a company that's not innovative. Shit, I am one
of the biggest supporters of Apple there is.

But the iPhone 5 is not everyone's cup of tea.
Go over to the Android forums and read countless
posts from those users as to why they don't like the
iPhone 5. Then go read the Apple forums and see
why they do. There's a choice here and there are
clear reasons why I made a different choice than
you did.

I have seen you start some incredibly condescending
forum posts here, and watched you crap all over new
products in press releases that I have posted -- and I
don't sit here and call you out on all of them because
my opinion doesn't jive with yours -- though I admit I
just do a lot of head shaking and move on.

Stop taking personal offense to everything.

Get over it. Move on....Move on....Move on....

This whole thread is ridiculous now. Clearly the iPhone5 is not a dud. Clearly the other phones are also great products. These post are pointless. If I don't like the color purple, an argument can not be presented to me that will make me like it.

My wife loves purple.
I will enjoy the iPhone5 more then I enjoy my 4S, I'm sure of it.
I wish the iPhone5 were more, but it's company provided so *shrug*

I will upgrade my personal phone and it will not be to the 5.

To each their own.

I believe you are joking but I'll note: no temper here.
Text is a tough medium to convey emotions in and my humor is both sarcastic and often subtle. I can count the times I've posted in anger here in 15 years on half of 1 hand.
It's Ron's playpen tho and if he asks me to tone it down I do so even if I disagree with his opinion, and his facts. =) I'll be over in the owners thread for here on out, you guys can keep bashing it in this one.

Note: I have obtained Sam's latest hand x-ray from his doctor. That's how come he can count on half of one hand. :D

Well I upgraded to the iPhone 5 from the iPhone 4s (now my son's phone).

LTE is insane, AT&T rolled it out on launch day in Seattle... I get 35-52Mbps download, 11-20Mbps Upload. However, even though I have unlimited you got to watch it. My friend hit 5GB yesterday his speeds are now .48Mbps ouch...

I like the new screen size and it is much lighter, very noticeable. Battery life appears to still suck if your using network intense apps. :(

Overall very happy with it.
