My iPhone 12 was finally updated to iOS 14.6 about a week ago. I was really curious if the FaceID feature updated for mask wearing would work. And it does! That is pretty neat that it’s using the Apple Watch to unlock the iPhone when it sees a mask. The other neat thing is a notification on screen that the Apple Watch has been unlocked by the iPhone. Before it would unlock the Apple Watch, but this is nice to see the notification.

Nelson, I was very pleased with that feature as well. Since being vaccinated, I no longer wear a mask unless absolutely mandated, but that was a great feature to have, although it came a bit late into the pandemic. Probably a good feature to have for the next one.

I’m still going to wear the mask for a while longer. :). There are people who are not vaccinated running around so I’d rather not take a chance.

Anyone have thoughts on those numbers?

this phone is super slow on loading pages and live radio from apps.

Was any of those w/ 4/full bars of signal? 3 bars or less could mean weak coverage where you've been trying...

Also, since it's a new phone, maybe it needs an iOS update, especially if it's only loaded w/ 14.0 or something...

It’s up to date and always 3 or 4 bars of 4.
Also maybe my expectation of 5G is higher then it should be.

Looking at the results from my previous iPhone the XS I was able to get around and above 100 on Lte. So this seems wrong to me.

Maybe it's (at least partly) something w/ the choice of the destination site for those tests?

I generally make my own choice of a major test server (like nearby Spectrum or Optimum Online or whatever-your-ISP) for apples-to-apples comparison, especially if I'm mainly concerned about testing my connection instead of traffic specific to some other site/location.

Is your service “real 5G”? My AT&T service I’ve read is not real full 5G in my area. Even though it says 5G, it says 5Ge. Sort of fake 5G. I just did the speed test with wifi turned off. My numbers are lower then yours. 47.1 download and 11.1 upload.

Yeh as I mentioned it’s Verizon.
As far as I know they are real 5G.

Just checked again here at home and it’s 60+
Those results from earlier today are on,y a few miles from here.

I’ll check it again while I’m out tomorrow.

😆

Yeah I see now he said swipe off apps.

I was reading that as the Dell answer to problems.
Wipe the whole thing and restart all of it.

Powering off kills all the apps. Why do it manually?
Because it clears out the memory before shutdown which can be helpful.

It takes just a second. I know a lot of people do it 2-3 times a day and some people refuse to ever do it but my own anecdotal use has me believing that there’s no possible harm from it and it -feels- like it clears any connectivity issues I run into from jumping between so many different cell and WiFi zones and into areas where there is no reception at all. YMMV but doing it once a week or so seems to help.
