How do you get the computer to identify? (1 Viewer)

I am trying to use my new mp3 player, however I cannot get my computer to recognize the writable card drive plugged into the usb port.
Does anybody know how to do this? I have the panasonic sv-sd75.
Please help.

What OS are you using? Sometimes, I just remove the USB Root Hub in Device Manager, let it re-recognize it then the USB device is recognized as well.
