I don't have that much to go on. I've heard this song twice and it SOUNDS a lot like Eddie Veder from Pearl Jam but I don't think it is. It has a nice piano and he sings something about 15 a few times. He used the word 15 multiple times. It is NOT on the PJ Rarities that just came out. I don't think there is a piano to be heard on both discs so I won't buy any more PJ looking for this song.

I'm probably way off, but the first thing that came to my mind was a cover of The Who's "5:15", since Pearl Jam is known to cover The Who, and that song does have some piano.

If it's a quiet song, then it is definitely not "5:15".

Charles, it sounds like you are refering to "100 years" by Five for Fighting, written by John Ondrasik, off of their new album "The Battle For Everything"...nice song.

100 Years

I'm 15 for a moment
Caught in between 10 and 20
And I'm just dreaming
Counting the ways to where you are
I'm 22 for a moment
She feels better than ever
And we're on fire
Making our way back from Mars
15 there's still time for you
Time to buy and time to lose
15, there's never a wish better than this
When you only got 100 years to live
I'm 33 for a moment
Still the man, but you see I'm a they
A kid on the way
A family on my mind
I'm 45 for a moment
The sea is high
And I'm heading into a crisis
Chasing the years of my life
15 there's still time for you
Time to buy, Time to lose yourself
Within a morning star
15 I'm all right with you
15, there's never a wish better than this
When you only got 100 years to live
Half time goes by
Suddenly you’re wise
Another blink of an eye
67 is gone
The sun is getting high
We're moving on...
I'm 99 for a moment
Dying for just another moment
And I'm just dreaming
Counting the ways to where you are
15 there's still time for you
22 I feel her too
33 you’re on your way
Every day's a new day...
15 there's still time for you
Time to buy and time to choose
Hey 15, there's never a wish better than this
When you only got 100 years to live

By George Jack, you got it. I finally heard this song again yesterday and wrote down a couple of lines.

I've never heard of this group Five for Fighting. Is this song representative of their other songs?

They had a pretty major hit last year,(or 2002?)with "Superman(it's not easy to be me)" which was heavily rotated on top 40 radio.

I'm not terribly familiar with their back catalog, but I'd say this new song is very representative of their work.

Piano driven pop with heavy influence from Elton John. John Ondrasik is definitely the brains behind this outfit.

Jack, after checking allmusic.com they say John IS Five for Fighting (a reference to 5min penalty in hockey). I then sampled some songs from cdnow.com and all I sampled sounded good. It kind of reminds me a little of Grant Lee Buffalo somewhat as well.

Their latest venture(3rd CD) got panned in Blender, 0 stars. I'd say stick to their 'hit' cd with Superman first, then go to their second CD.

Chet, I want the 100 Years song that is on the new one. Blender can pan it all they want but I still like that song and already got the CD (on sale). All 3 CD's get a 3 star over at allmusic.com

Thanks for the blender tip, I always like reading reviews.
