Spiderman: Across the Spiderverse and Elemental are the two I'm most interested in in that frame.

I might go see this pic too; however, the trailer isn't doing much for me. Anderson's thing for making his live action movies look like four colour comic strips is starting to get stale.

To me it looks like he wanted a "vintage postcard" look for this film.

That could be very well the case. Either way, the flat, minimalist, pastel look isn't doing much for me. It is only one trailer, so maybe my impression will change when other clips get released.

Well, he obviously likes pastels based on his previous pictures and he likes that sort of flat look, like you are looking into a doll house. So, I mean, I think what you see in that trailer is going to be what we get in the film. It's his style, this time he seems just to draw the images based upon old postcards. Probably what we see there is what we will get in terms of how it will look.

Agreed. Like the kind you'd buy at the roadside attractions on Route 66 in the mid-20th century:

Wonder how they determined credit order on that poster? It's not alphabetical and it seems like Jeff Goldblum and Willem Dafoe would have more prestige than some listed above them.

It might be the order that they are presented in on-screen, and on-screen, Goldblum (at least) might be billed as "with" or "and".

Are they trying to bury this on purpose? Also opening next June: Transformers Rise of the Beasts, The Flash, Indiana Jones 5, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, and Elemental (Pixar).

Shouldn't this be an awards darling released in the late fall?

More specifically, June 16th (the date on the poster) is the same release date as DC's The Flash and Pixar's Elemental. But I don't imagine there will be that much crossover in audiences. But if IMDb is to be believed, the 16th is a limited release -- probably NYC, LA, and the like -- while the wide release is the 23rd. Nothing else my wife and I are interested in is releasing the 23rd.

Aside from The Royal Tenenbaums I haven't been exactly drawn to Anderson's films. I'd expect this one to have the same level of appeal. I'll probably catch it down the line but certainly won't seek it out upon initial release.
