NOTE: 11/9/22
I’ve realized that there were tech problems in reviewing WB’s new 4k of Casablanca.
I found out after the fact that a guest, who has full access to my screening gear made an experimental change, and neglected to return to the original setup after use.
I ended up reviewing Casablanca with my my gear set to 8k pixel-shift, which adds processing, and affected grain.
With apologies to the readership, the modified review is below. No other reviews were affected.

Casablanca, that great old WWII classic has been seen on virtually every home media platform, and has finally hit 4k courtesy of Warner Bros.
It looks beautiful in 4k. Blacks are a bit richer than the previous Blu-ray, and overall the new 4k appears very much like viewing a 35mm nitrate print.
The new image harvest is derived from three contemporary nitrate elements. The majority from a fine grain, with some footage also derived from a dupe and an original print.
The grain structure, which is digitally untainted is extremely fine overall, and from a nominal seating distance, invisible.
The question here is whether if one owns a recent Blu-ray is there enough of a 4k bump to purchase the film again?
Now seeing the release without the added processing, my feeling is yes, especially if you love the film.
For those who don't own the film in any form, this is obviously the one to purchase.
Once again, a wonderful set of extras.
Image - 5 (HDR)
Audio – 5 (DTS -HD MA 2.0 Monaural)
Pass / Fail – Pass
Plays nicely with projectors - Yes
Upgrade from Recent Blu-ray - Yes, if you love the film
Makes use of and works well in 4k - 4
Very Highly Recommended
