Looking for some mains that will be used for music only. All sorts of music. There will be NO sub so i will probably need 8's to get the bass that i need. Right? Hoping to use these for parties in my front room. The amp has not been decided, so power requirements/impedance are irrelevant. Thinking about $200 What do you guys think? Thanks!

For parties, you need a high SPL speaker and you can't get that retail with $200. The closest thing I would recommend is a DIY project - http://speakerdesignworks.com/NS6project_5.html

A pair of these - http://www.parts-express.com/pe/showdetl.cfm?Partnumber=245-804 or these - http://www.parts-express.com/pe/showdetl.cfm?Partnumber=248-6764 As with most, the more you spend, the better you get. These are PA / DJ speakers. Parties only. Not made for critical listening.

If you want more tradtional home speakers then consider BIC DV64 and DV84 http://www.amazon.com/BIC-America-Venturi-DV64-Speaker/dp/B00011KLOI/ref=sr_1_4?s=aht&ie=UTF8&qid=1326561219&sr=1-4, http://www.amazon.com/BIC-America-Venturi-DV84-Speaker/dp/B00012F7CI/ref=sr_1_9?s=aht&ie=UTF8&qid=1326561260&sr=1-9 Really on the cheap: http://www.amazon.com/Sony-SSF-7000-Floor-Standing-Speaker-Woofer/dp/B000OG4E2U/ref=sr_1_7?s=aht&ie=UTF8&qid=1326561362&sr=1-7 But again, not exactly high quality sound but great bang for the buck if you want to make a lot a noise. But also check the Fry's adds in your area. They've had the Infinity P362's for under $300 ($199 a couple of times) per pair. And the Polk RTi8's for $199 recently. These really are pretty good sounding speakers. Also the Polk Monitors from newegg.com http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.aspx?Submit=ENE&N=100006922%20600030002&IsNodeId=1&Description=polk%20monitor&name=Floorstanding%20Speakers&Order=BESTMATCH Maybe craigslist?

Oh man, guys. When i said party you thought i meant a mini rave or whole house party. I meant like 10-20 people dancing in my living room, which is seriously like 15x20 ft. Sound quality and looks is important. PA speakers won't do. What about this sub..... http://www.parts-express.com/pe/showdetl.cfm?Partnumber=300-633 with one these bookshelves....... http://www.htd.com/Products/level-two-speakers/Level-TWO-Bookshelf-Speakers http://www.svsound.com/index.php?page=shop.product_details&flypage=flypage.tpl&product_id=20&category_id=11&vmcchk=1&option=com_virtuemart&Itemid=108 http://www.aperionaudio.com/product/Intimus-4B-Satellite-Speaker,113,20,261.aspx Any other suggestions? I live right by Aperion by the way.

Well now you've completely changed direction. :) That sub is decent for the price. And I've never seen it that low before. Usually it's on-sale for $129 The SVS and Aperion speakers are very good, but so are the Infinity and Polk's I linked to. I'd take the SVS's over the Aperions because they are much larger. 6" vs. 4". But the number of good bookshelves for $250 is staggering.
