With everything set to small this should have no effect, right?

Here's my budget system: Yamaha RX-V530, X-Box, JBL L40's(mains) Boston Acoustics 424v(cen) JBL N24II's(rears) Velodyne CHT-12(sub)

If all your speakers are set to small no bass under the crossover should be able to play out of your mains.

However, If you're speakers are set to small that option shouldn't even be there, but if it is and you set it to LFE OUT: BOTH SW + MAIN then it shouldn't do anything. If it does Yamaha missed something very major there.

Geoff S: Thanks for the feedback. I do have everything set to small and it still gives 3(BASS/LFE)options: SWFR, MAIN & BOTH. Being a newbie, this confused me even more than normal. Would it cause any problems if I left it at "BOTH" for non-DD/DTS signals? It still shouldn't make any difference, right?

John,
It will depend which of the settings has priority. If the mains to small has priority, then setting bass/lfe to both will be the same as setting it to swfr.
However, if the "both" setting has priority, then you will be getting double bass/lfe, defnitely not something I'd recommend.
Why not just set it to swfr and remove the ambiguity?

Wayne, point well taken. But, I was curious because the other receivers I've seen will not allow this option after "SMALL" is selected for the mains. I didn't know if this was a "screw-up" or a usable feature for non-LFE sources.
