When bringing up Outlook my AOL IM immediately starts up automatically? stop.... (1 Viewer)

how can I stop this. whenever i open up microsoft outlook to look at my emails, my aol instant messanger automatically comes on. how can i turn this off so i don't need to have AOL IM on to check my email.

Open up AIM, go into "Edit Options" and then go into "Edit Preferences" . Under the preferences screen you will want to select the "Sign on/Sign off" option. The bottom selction says "Make AIM my default messenging client". Uncheck this option. Then apply the settings.

In Outlook Express make sure you go into Tools>Options and uncheck the option to start AIM up automatically with Outlook as well (this option will more than likely disappear when you remove AIM from being your default messenging program.).

That will stop AIM from starting up with Outlook. Enjoy.
