Ok, I am pretty much in the know with the whole HDTV scene but I am not completely straight on the IEEE 1394 standard, has it been approved? When will it go into affect? And finally, will it really make current HDTV sets obsolete or not work? I have heard to many conflicting rumors and would like to get some confirmation. Thanks in advance for the info.

The copyright issues will not effect any OTA HD presentations from Broadcast tv..It will not even effect Premium Channels like HBO HD and Showtime HD...It will effect some first time movie runs on HD PPV events if and when this is all ever ironed out which probably will take many more years...
