This has never bothered me. It's a variation of what others channels have been doing forever. They take a 90 minute movie, add enough commercial breaks to fill out two hours (maybe trimming the movie or speeding it up to make for room for commercials). TCM puts them at the end of the movie so that the next movie can start on the hour or half hour.

Jeez, after writing that, I wonder why anyone would be irritated by TCM, when compared to other channel practices.

That's what I thought it was! I just wanted to know how it works, because I was somewhat baffled.

TCM is one of my favorite channels, but limited to PG-13 and below, no R-rated films, and as the channel title says, "Classic", or at least what fits their definition, so don't expect anything newer that's not at least 30 years old. Probably some exceptions, they've been moving into the '80s and '90s for a while, possibly even more recent. I'm hardly an expert, but "The Goodbye Girl" from '78 and "A River Runs Through It" from '92 are good, but really pushing the boundaries for "classic" and for age.

Normally OAR, no commercials except before or after and no editing as far as I can tell. Kind of like PBS. With a one hour show, skip the first 4-5 minutes and the final nine, but in between, unless it's one of their "beg-a-thons", usually get the entire show, no cuts.

Also like IFC, although it does show commercials, they don't edit and they do show R-rated movies. None of that formatted to fit your screen, run in the time allotted crap. I record a film and see those messages, zap, I don't waste the time.

The “commercial” breaks on TCM can be very entertaining. I like the ones where a living celebrity is talking about a deceased star, and sometimes not a star, explaining why celebrity respects the subject. This is accompanied by clips of the subject. Very entertaining.

Let's add anything "Jenner" to the list.

So another Jenner pumps out a baby. Oh, the world should be thrilled. No, how about nobody cares. What the heck is a Jenner anyway. Faux celebrities at best.

Then of course that freak show Caitlyn. Wow, to go from a world class athlete to the he/she thing he is now, just creepy.

What’s creepy is to refer to a human being as a thing.

Every generation has celebrities who are famous for being famous. The Gabors were part of mine.

While I’m thinking of it, there’s something that irritates me. It’s a fact of life, but still annoying. More and more, when a new move/series, musical show lists the performers I find myself wondering WHO? I am becoming more “not with it.”

I apologize for calling Caitlyn a "thing". Not saying anything more or I'll get in trouble

Right there with you as far as new movies, tv shows, etc. So many of these people I've never heard of before. Especially on some of the award shows. Who the heck is that, what has she ever done?

Sorry if this is weird, my keyboard has been taken over by aliens, it's just going crazy.

In case you really don't know, Stan...Kylie Jenner is the daughter of Bruce and Kris Jenner. And THAT fact makes her a half-sister to the Kardashian girls! Kris Jenner was also married to Robert Kardashian,
I'm slightly unsettled that Mike is so familiar with the Jenner/Kardashian family tree.

I promised no more Jenner comments, so stage two. Kardashians - Ugh...

Probably the most famous for being famous for doing nothing except somehow being famous. The obese women, reading the gossip rags, their soaps and eating bon-bons while lounging on their couches all day have created these people.

Other than the OJ trial which was a joke, what is anything meaningful a Kardashian has done. Don't even get me started on that jerk Kanye and the rest of the circus.

I think I felt that way about music when I was 20 years old. Even when I was young, I was more into older music and now, I'm completely ignorant of anything popular that's current. Amusingly, my mother who is in her 60's still listens to all that pop music junk and knows all the modern singers/bands. I guess it skips a generation.

It's really annoying when people use "drug" as the past-tense of "drag" (instead of "dragged").
"The assailant drug the victim's body behind the nearest convenience store."
I've actually heard local newscasters say this (it probably has something to do with the region of the country I live in, but there's no excuse for that).

That might be as current as this old guy is ever going to get, again, in terms of pop culture.

I used to be totally on top of all the current-day goings-on. It served me well once during trivia contests and such. Now it is most useful for crossword duty.

But I think I've used up all my available grey matter as I tune in for parts of the recent Grammy broadcasts and mostly don't have a clue as to what's going on.

This famous for being famous and the preoccupation with the trivial is not new. There have been the trashy tabloids placed front and center and checkout lines for as long as I can remember. Today we just have more opportunity to encounter the trash.

I've been in that boat for several decades. I gave up on rock music in the mid-late 80s only to discover "alternative" acts in the 90s because of a same age friend who plays in a band. I'd bring "classic" rock music to work to play in the mornings for the younger kids (20 somethings) to experience and he'd bring stuff in on occasion. He was the only reason I discovered some of the better 90s alternative and/or rock acts. I left that job in 1999 and haven't bothered to keep up.

Most of what passes for music since ~2000 annoys me.

The "Pointer Sisters" are coming to a local casino next week, they represent the time period where my music experiences basically stopped. I'm perfectly happy to live in the past :D

Being an Indian casino, free to set their own rules, they allow smoking, which my body just doesn't tolerate. It would be a fun show to see, but I'd also like to be able to breathe. Nothing worse than coming home and having to wash all your clothes and take a shower because you smell like an ashtray.

Very little of the newer music interests me. And like films with CGI, many vocals go through auto-tune now, so who knows if we're truly hearing the real singer or even worse, some Ashlee Simpson lip synch version.

Why are the Native American casinos in Upper New York State so full of smoke when the ones in Ohio are not? Why are they afraid to eliminate smoking? On the Canadian side, casinos are smoke free and jammed.

When we first went to a restaurant in Senica Casino in Niagara Falls N Y and they asked us if we wanted to have smoking or non smoking we were astonished. We hadn’t heard that since 1985! I remember this was mocked as being as effective as peeing and non-peeing sections in a pool!

The smoke is awful, even in the small non-smoking section, like you said the pee/no pee areas, it's a joke. No matter where you go it's smoky. I simply stopped gambling, probably saved a lot since then ;)

We're a totally non-smoking state, has to be outdoors, at least 25 feet away from school or business entrances. You can actually eat in a restaurant and breathe fresh air now. I remember taking some college classes a few years ago, had to get a good dose of fresh air, hold my breath, then walk through all the smokers until I got inside.

And it's not a cheap habit. Some places I've seen, cigarettes are going for 50 cents a piece. That's ridiculous, but I guess if you're addicted, that's life.

Probably my number one gross out memory was kissing a smoker. Wow, literally almost vomit time.
