This.

My wife suffered a compression fracture to her right wrist last October. The Orthopedic surgeon (once the best in town) said no surgery as it wouldn't help any but he'd re-evaluate in a week. The next week when she asked about surgery, he, in an annoyed voice, said "If I was going to do surgery I'd have done it when you first came in!" After 6 weeks, when things weren't going so well in recovery/therapy, she went to a different one in another city. He told her had she come to him in the first week or two he could have done surgery and she'd be almost back to normal but arthritis had already set in and surgery wouldn't help much, if at all, at that point. The first one is in his 70s, the 2nd in his 30s. A vast difference in experience, but more importantly, new techniques which the older one just hadn't bothered to keep up with.

The annoyance? Doctors who don't bother to keep up with modern techniques and continue to rely on their reputations working far past when they should have retired.
They called mine an "impact" fracture. Apparently some of the bone was forced upward into the radius. Now in the process of switching doctors, back to my regular PCP and his referral to an orthopedic surgeon after the hassles with this place.

They did mention arthritis and surgery, but constantly blow me off when I try to get things looked at. The pain is constant. This happened three weeks ago, I would've thought it should feel better by now. Major pain in my elbow, but they never did x-rays beyond the wrist area.

Once again the media and government at its best..... Awfully hard to mistake dead for injured.

Wrist update, Ugh...

Major pain, and 3 1/2 weeks into this. Thankfully, though they're stingy, they are prescribing pain meds. Showed me the x-rays and the break is obvious, but there are also pieces of bone that chipped off and moved as the "impact fracture" happened, "the head of the radius was forced upward into itself". My wrist hurts and the entire arm, almost to the elbow hurts.

ER refers me to an orthopedic surgeon on the 2nd floor of the hospital. Never see him, he bumps me to another doctor who then bumps me to a PA, 25 miles from where I live. Temporarily no transportation, but they don't care. So I give up.

The ortho surgeon reviewed things and correctly passed me on to a wrist specialist, which would have been fine, but he just blows me off, never even sees me and sends me to one of his PAs.

I think they set it wrong. Only went to this original ER because it was close, but what a disaster. Dumping the original people I saw and went to my PCP and the staff I've seen for 11 years. He said I should not be in this much pain, it normally begins to go away after about two weeks.

Went to my PCP (two miles away) the 23rd, because I need his referral to an ortho doc, you can't just look one up in the phone book and drop in :(. I see her on the 30th. Nothing sexist, but in my entire life, this will be the first female doctor I've ever dealt with.

This sounds so minor, people get far worse injuries than this, yet it feels like a truck has parked on my arm and just stays there, not fun.

Posting only to maybe help somebody else if they have to deal with the medical system. Get a second opinion, demand to be taken care of, "you're paying for it". My experience has been bureaucracy and major "passing the buck". Don't tolerate it.

Okay, no more whining.

In 2005, my late sister-in-law wanted to treat me to one of the Laurel & Hardy Hallmark DVD sets that were then fairly new. The name of the chain eludes me at the moment, but when she called ahead to check whether it was in stock, she was told it definitely wasn't. Of course, when she decided to look for it at that store anyway, the DVD in question was on a display in PLAIN VIEW!

I remember that Barbie actually did the eye-roll when she found that Laurel And Hardy Hallmark DVD, as well! :D

CHEERS! :)

Why would they say "not in stock," when you went there and found that it was in stock?!

Some of the ads on HTF...you click on them and go to the site...but you can't proceed without giving them your email. They don't get it and I close the tab. That really pisses me off.
The same here. They want my email, immediate click and close. They get your address, sell it to somebody else, who then sells it again. Already enough junk, which thankfully MSN is excellent at filtering out, but not adding to the list.

Minor, but have to mention it.

Went to Rite-Aid to get a prescription. One of those kindly little old lady types helping out as kind of a guide bouncing around.

This where you'll find the cold medicine, can I help with anything else? This is on special today, do you need help with such and such? Over and over as I'm waiting. Not just me, but she's bugging everybody.

So bad that I actually go to their web-site and mention how annoying she was.

Now the truly annoying part, the manager got the complaint and now calls every day to discuss it so they can "improve their service". Caller ID so I avoid them. I just want it to go away.

Also went to fill a prescription, only had $9 with me, it was $12, so I came back the next day with more cash. They ring it up and now it's $8. I wouldn't have minded, except it was pain medication, so an extra day of pain due to their screw up.

Prescription prices just magically change day to day?

The little brat in the iPad commercial, “What’s a computer?” She knows damn well what her neighbor was referring to.

The over used effect of displaying the texts on screen as a character is texting someone. Was neat at first when I saw it years ago in Sherlock Holmes, getting old now.

Movie trailer trends, the new one being the Dunkirk ticking. Is someone stealing the idea? Or is it the same marketing company using reusing their own ideas? I don’t care, it should make sense in the context of the movie being advertised.

Repeating myself, but thank goodness for the DVR and the FF button, I bypass all that crap.

Truly annoying, but some now are adding more time to cram in more commercials. Watching old repeats of ER on POP, some goofy network I've never heard of. What was an hour long show is now an hour and 15 minutes, so the FF button gets used a lot. I guess that's better than editing them to fit syndication time slots. I hope I'm getting the full show, but no way to tell.

Top of the annoying commercial list is easily that one with the pillows, followed by some air-brush make-up thing or the one with copper cookware. I'd swear they're like mini infomercials, probably at least three minutes long. That immediately adds them to my "do not ever purchase" list.

What annoys me is that so many people are annoyed at that commercial, particularly, the hurtful things I've read and heard about that young actress. IMO, it's an effective commercial aimed at young people and their parents.

I'll have to actually look and see if I can find that one, a commercial I want to watch

Another annoyance are the commercials with fantastic CGI teasers. You think it's a promo for some great sci-fi action flick yet it turns out to be a Geico commercial. Yuck.

Actually insure my home and car with Geico, but years ago before the gimmicky ads showed up. I really doubt I'd sign up with them now.

If you think I won't go away, how about Omarosa? :wave-hello:

So special she thinks she can go by one name like Cher, a level of talent she'll never reach.

Once again trying to extend her 15 minutes of fame, as if anyone cares, by now going on Celebrity Big Brother. Consistently the most annoying show on television, back once again and now she's on it. Along with a bunch of fellow D-Listers, only one that I even recognize.

At least I won't be using any electricity recording that load of c**p.

The continuing wrist saga... Saw the new orthopedic surgeon today, new x-rays and they took the cast off. Gave me this really cool one, they heat it up and mold it to your arm, but it's removable, so I can shower, etc.

Here's the whopper to explain all the pain and the meds I needed. The other office put the original cast on way to tight. Arm was purple, not just a little, but one massive bruise, front and back. Nearly a month. I'm surprised it didn't get infected. Oh well, on the right track now. Borderline surgery, but it is healing, so back in two weeks to see how it's going.

One thing that really annoys me about Turner Classic Movies-- say the time slot for a DVR recording was for a 2 hr. 15 min. film; you'd think the film would last that long. Wrong! The film might last only an hour and 50 min., leaving 25 min. worth of filler (interstitials and all that); it baffles me why TCM does that.

The blame probably belongs to your Cable/Satellite Service Provider. When we had Bell TV several years back, one thing that irritated the heck out of me was sometimes if a program started past a quarter to / after the hour (But before the hour / half hour!), the Bell TV schedule would display as if the program were starting on the hour / half hour, instead. This anomaly caused the ruination of a few PVR'd TCM recordings, before I got into the habit of setting the PVR to begin recording 15 minutes early.

CHEERS! :)

This has never bothered me. It's a variation of what others channels have been doing forever. They take a 90 minute movie, add enough commercial breaks to fill out two hours (maybe trimming the movie or speeding it up to make for room for commercials). TCM puts them at the end of the movie so that the next movie can start on the hour or half hour.

Jeez, after writing that, I wonder why anyone would be irritated by TCM, when compared to other channel practices.
