This movie was just on TCM the other day and I thought it looked mediocre at best so I'm glad it's getting a new 4K scan from the OCN.
Do they usually wind up using new master on TCM etc?

One of the great Warner pre-code melodramas, high points career and acting wise for both Kay Francis-who in my estimation has never looked more beautiful--and William Powell, who has never been more poignant and sympathetic, as well as Tay Garnett's direction. It should be considered on the same level, if not superior, to the John M. Stahl films of the 1930's such as Magnificent Obsession or Imitation of Life and their 1950's remakes by Douglas Sirk, and now, that it will finally be available in a superior format, hopefully that will happen. The thing is, One Way Passage has a sublimity and deep abiding beauty as well as emotional resonance that is difficult to imagine if you haven't seen it. And once you have, as Jose says, it is unforgettable.

Judging by the first few minutes of the premier of this restoration on Turner Classic Movies, fans of this classic aren't going to be disappointed.

The seas are calm, and the ship is sturdy – but the shipboard romance is doomed. Dapper young man Dan Hardesty (William Powell) does not know that lovely Joan Ames (Kay Francis) is dying of an incredibly rare disease. Joan does not that Dan is a convicted murderer on his way to San Quentin. Still, they have four weeks to find happiness in each other’s arms. Or will Dan forsake the love of a lifetime for his own life, using the vessel’s Honolulu layover as a chance to escape the law? The passage of time remains kind to One Way Passage, an Oscar® winner for Best Original Story, directed with style and sensitivity by Tay Garnett (The Postman Always Rings Twice). William Powell brings his unmistakable, urbane charm to the role of Dan. As Joan, Kay Francis displays the lustrous sincerity that made her one of the era’s favorites. Their passage may be one-way, but you’ll find it’s a voyage worth repeating.

Yeah, I watched it on TCM last year and there is a night and day difference between what I saw this morning and that last viewing.

Based on the positive reviews here from fans of the film, and because amazingly the original negative exists for a movie from 1932, I've just done a blind buy pre-order from the link above.
