It seems that a lot of ppl either don't know how or don't bother to use the UBB URL tags when they post really long web links. You end up having to scroll back and forth to read threads with these long URLs, even on a large monitor at 1024x768 or better resolution. Does the forum software have an option to auto truncate the display of long URLs?

No Ellen. People have to be keen about this themselves and use a short description for the "display" part of the URL tag. Not just let that line be a copy of the whole URL.

In the past I have posted links, such as links to DVD's on amazon and I would leave it as a URL, so people can tell by looking at a URL where it is taking them. Sorry. vBulletin, does have the feature you are talking about, and from what I hear, we *might* be switching to that software in the near future.
