Hello,

I bought a Sony KP-43T70 back in 2000. The back of the unit says manufactured in April 2000.

I had a problem with it and the Sony service person says the part I need is no longer manufactured.

Then says I need the entire board replaced because this non-manufactured part comes on the board. Of course this board is much more expensive.

Does this sound normal? The business in question is reputable, but something just doesn't sound right.

Illegal!

They 'must' have parts for seven years.

Not every does though. There has been a company that crushed their part stock with a steam roller, before the 'due date'. Just leaving their customers high & dry. Did not even offer the parts for sale or give them away, so someone could put them too good use!
