Trigger for amp (1 Viewer)

I am looking at connecting a wire from my pre/pro to my amp so I can trigger it on and off with my remote. I have a mono jack and cable, but it doesn't say which wire is the positive and which one negative. But, when I strip the wire, there is a copper strand cable wrapped around a red insulated wire. Would I be safe in assuming that the red wire is the positive.

You would be safe with that assumption. I did the same with a Sony and a Yamaha.
