My setup consists of a SXRD which is connected to a Denon 3910 via HDMI using a bettercables cable.

The SXRD has been calibrated and looks fantastic with HD material from my cable company (Verizon FIOS).

The Denon is supposed to be a quality DVD player.

I've noticed that on some DVDs dark scenes like that are found on Superman Returns look very noisy. When my screen shows a complete black scene I can see what appears to be green clouds moving in the image.
The image should be solid black but on many DVDs I see this motion.

I also get this occasional via my Verizon cable box.

I don't think its the TV causing it. It may the material playing or the DVDs poor mastering but its annoying to me.

What would cause this video noise?

I'm thinking of selling the Denon 3910 if it doesn't mate well with the SXRD.

Anyone else see this on their SXRD setup?

Turns out that Superman Returns is an awful transfer.

My system is just displaying what a horrible transfer that was released.

Tonight I'm watching the lastes "Pirates" movie and it looks spectacular.

I suppose you could intentionally crush the blacks to make the dark green clouds fade into the background (would they?)

The same idea as TV manufacturers of yore using excessive overscan to make sure ragged edges of some sources' video frames stay beyond the screen borders.
