Speaker selection vs. Amp power (1 Viewer)

Greetings ... newbie with a dumb question:

Under normal listening conditions (or possibly a tad higher), would a 200 Watt/Channel amplifier potentially damage a speaker that has a recommended rating of 100 Watts ???

As long as you can control the volume and gain, the your amplifier won't be sending all 200watts to the speaker to cause damage.

I'd say it is generally safe. Remember that sometimes it's safer to have extra power in reserve than less.
