Can we take sensitivity rating as it is, or is it like wattages ratings? My new B&W is rated at 90dB and so was my satelitte speakers. But, with this new B&W, I had to crank up volume by 5dB on my Denon to get about same volume level. Of course, at the same volume level, there is no comparison in terms of sound quality, but I was curious if sensitivity rating is different manufactures to manufactures or I'm seeing (or, rather listening to) difference between satellite and tower speakers.

Yoon Lee,

This is the same type question that I have as well. I have towers at the surround position and thought it was the sensitivity of the speakers as my mains are rated at 100db and the surounds ar rated at 98db.

I have to adjust speaker level up 6db to those speakers to hear them or the mains will drown them out.

What gives, or is this normal....Sorry to piggy back on your thread.

Another finding with B&W is that before I got this speaker, different movies have very different volume levels (upto 10dB), but now they're more averaged out and I'm watching them all at similar volume level (5dB at most).
