Reusing DVD+RW discs (1 Viewer)

I have several DVD+RW discs that I recorded using the Philips stand-alone DVD recorder. Now I would like to write over some of them using the computer. So far I've been unsuccessful in doing this...I suspect that it's a formatting issue, though I'm not sure. I tried right-clicking on the drive letter & reformatting the disc but that hasn't worked. Any suggestions? Thanks!

I use Nero, and there's a drop-down selection to ERASE the DVD-RW/DVD+RW.

I tried erasing using Easy CD Creator and that didn't work. I also erased using the Philips recorder and that didn't work either (but I kind of expected that!) I'll try Nero as I just installed that last week.
