I had made up my mind to buy the Denon AV Receiver (3312CI). However, i researched and realized that in order to get a good value out of the Electromotion-ESL speakers (Martin Logan) I am planning to buy, its better to go in for a more powerful AV receiver or AV separates (which is my new desired option) With a budget of about $3000 for the Pre-amplifier and amplifiier devices, what do you guys recommend? I was having a look at a few and a Home theatre specialist from Magnolia suggested Marantz AV7005/MM7055 combo Can you guys give some suggestions as well so that I can weigh my options Thanks in advance

For the pre amp, the Marantz is really the only options in the budget. In that price range, other pre amp processors are either going to be missing features (Emotiva, Outlaw) or me more expensive, Onkyo, and most others. Rotel has the RSP-1572 for $2100. Could work and keep you under $3k with the amp. A used B&K Ref 70 perhaps? As for the amp, there are some great deals on used amps. You can probably find an old Carver 5 channel amp cheap that will open up some pre amp options., or something from Parasound, B&K, or a new Emotiva XPA-5 ($899 for a 5 channel) Outlaw audio has a 125x7 for $999. IN fact Outlaw Audio has package deals for their amps and the Marantz 7500 together.
