I have a Marantz SR4400 & it is the first receiver /device I've owned with pre-outs to presumably hook up an external amplifier(s) to...my first qustion is this: will I notice any sonic difference w/ this receiver (it being a fairly low end receiver & DEFINITELY low end when speaking of separates, im sure)?
question #2: a high-dollar 5-6 channel amplifier is definitely not in my future at present...can lower cost 2-channel amps (whether used or even something like Radio Shack's Optimus amps) be substituted, or is it a pointless thing to do because the cheaper amps will sound the same as the receiver's built in amps? (the one bonus I assume is that the amps power output ratings are probably more accurate, i.e. my receiver may SAY 100 watts per channel, but is significantly less when all channels are driven, whereas the amps would probably really be pushing out nearly 100 watts)
question #3: will multiple amps even work this way, using several amps to power 1 signal from the pre-outs (probably 1 amp for front L-R, one for surrounds, & one for center & center back (dont have a speaker for that yet)
this is probably all ludicrous anyway, as my spekaers are just Fluance SX-HTB's, hehe...the amps & such would probably be overkill, but at least I would be a little more ready when I upgraded my speakers (especially if i get 4 ohm models...
