Looking to pick up a cheap DVD player for my girlfriend for Xmas. I was just going to Sam club and pick her up something in the sub $100 range when I started thinking maybey I could just give her my year old RP-56 and buy something better for myself. LOL

I do not have an HDTV yet but probably will within the next 18 months. My question was I was interested in the Denon 910, it's street price is less than $250 but I was wondering if this would be a step down from an RP-56 picture quality wise? any suggestions on what I should purchase in that sub $300 range for myself or in the sub $100 for her?

You could get a JVC XV-N40BK for under $80 with the current $20 rebate offer. The Denon DVD-910 is similar quality to the old RP56, but the older DVD-1600 is a little better.
