Ebert and Roeper actually gave this film a thumbs up. Now, that's interesting!

Smart casting decision putting the talented Amanda Bynes, star of "The Amanda Show" on Nickelodeon, as the female lead. She has a built-in audience and I believe she outshines the male lead. The plot and script at times was similar to the Home Alone movies and on the believability scale. Paul Giamatti comes across as the Daniel Stern character in The Home Alone movies. Because of the decent direction, decent acting and likeable characters, I would give this movie 2 stars (out of four), my kids would give it 3 stars.

If this movie becomes a hit you can bet that will be the end of MALCOM IN THE MIDDLE, because he'll leave the show for a movie career.:frowning:

My kids(age 4 & 7) loved this movie. And so did their friends. I thought the movie was alright. You have to go in not expecting much and realizing it is meant for a young kid. It makes it more enjoyable.
After the movie my 4 year old asked me when I was getting it on dvd. I have her trained well. ;)
