New To Turntables...Small Problem (1 Viewer)

Ok, so today I went out and bought a Creek preamp for a B&O turntable that my parents own, which I moved downstairs. Hooked it all up to my Rotel RSX 1065 reciever and it plays, but, when it does there is a very noticeable humming sound coming out of the speakers. Anybody have any idea what might be causing this?

Was it the ground wire??

I would have assumed it needed grounding, as well.

Yes yes it was the grounding wire. Since I am so new to this, I just assumed it was an alternate connection method. Woops.
