need a subwoofer for my HK AVR75 (1 Viewer)

finally moving out of my apt. and the FIRST thing i am looking forward to buying is a subwoofer. thing is, i know NOTHING about this particular kind of speaker.

so, for around the $200 range, and considering the power output of the Harmon KArdon AVR75 receiver, what kind of watt-range will i be restricted to when shopping for subwoofers? any specific suggestions?

forgot to mention i would also like to know how subwoofers are used when listening to cd's/music sources, and if any subwoofers are better when this is taken into consideration

You can get that Sony 12" sub for $129 at K's merchandise if you have any of them locally. They keep putting in the add that it has a 6-1/4" woofer in it, but it's the 12". They are going to have them forever if they don't fix that ad. Later
