My rear speakers are not loud enough... (1 Viewer)

I have a Pioneer VSX-509S and for some reason I can not get good rear action (no pun intended) to play out of the speakers. Can anyone suggest a setting on my reciever that might help or any other tips?

Get Avia or Video Essentials and an SPL meter.
Calibrate.

Use the above as a first step.
If for some reason you couldn't get the surrounds to calibrate at the same level as your other channels, you could always drop the level of you mains down several clicks, then recalibrate. That will give you some more upward adjustment room for the surrounds.

It could be that your front speakers are very sensitive and your surrounds are not. Advice above is good.
