Since I'll be upgrading to the Panny rp82 (99% likelihood i will) I was wondering just how the mp3 playing works on it. (and other dvd players for that matter) I'm still using my Sony s530d I bought back in '99. :)
So do you just burn a data cd full of mp3s, throw it in and that's it? Is there a on-screen song select etc...? Would you also be able to burn a DVD-R full of mp3s to use?

I can't speak for the RP82 but in general you just burn the MP3's as a data CD and stick it in the player. Most players have an onscreen display of the songs but only allow 8.3 naming. It would be nice if they would read the ID3 tag and show all of the information. I'm not sure if the DVD-R idea would work, I was thinking about trying it since you could get a lot more songs on it. I know some players limit the number of songs per disc or directory so it may not really be that beneficial to use DVD-R.
