Hi all,

I'm looking for reviews/comparisons of Tony Hawk Pro Skater 3 on GC to THPS1+2 Dreamcast. I loved the latter and now that THPS4 is coming out soon, THPS3 is getting cheaper.

The question for me, is, is it worth buying in light of the previous games, the controller on GC, etc? I loved the DC controller in THPS1+2 - it really made the game for me. How does the GC controller compare?

Any reviews, comparisons, comments from anyone?

Thanks,
Drue

I have played THPS3 on all three of the current systems and by far and away the GCN was the worst. I personally would not recommend getting THPS3 for the GCN.

You say it was the worst of the three next-gen systems. How so? What did they screw up enough not to warrant a purchase?

I have both THPS 1 & 2 for the DC, and have 3 for the Gamecube. Ignore what Kelly said about not buying it, I think it's just fine on the GC! I've played the Xbox version, and graphically they are very close. The GC does have some slowdown on the LA level, but for the most part it's very good.

Going from the DC controller to the GC controller is not bad at all. If you are used to the GC controller, than a 1/2 hour of playing is all you need and you'll be just fine.

I purchased the Xbox after my GC (and THPS 3) and saw no reason to "upgrade" THPS3 to the Xbox version, even if it does have an extra level.

With that said, when THPS 4 comes out, I'll most likely get the Xbox version. Any game that comes out on both platforms, I prefer the Xbox version because of 5.1 DD sound.

Plus the custom soundtrack feature for the X-box version of THPS 4 makes it a no-brainer for me as well. :)
