As someone with little investment in the "source story", I found "JtB" to be surprisingly entertaining.

It tries a little too hard to be "not your father's nativity story" - feminist Mary! - but it's peppy and not as bogged down as most of these films are.

IMO, a bit better than the also semi-decent "Star".
