I am looking to control my receiver, TV, DVD, etc with one remote from all over the house. Does anyone have experience with both of the following products?

This is an IR to RF converter/transmitter which attaches to a remote, and then sends a signal to a receiver station which converts it back to IR in order to control the above components.

The Powermid does the same thing, accept instead of the converter/transmitter attaching to the remote, it stands alone.
I recently tried a unit similar to the Powermid made by Rocoton or something like that. The range between the transmitter and the receiver was quite good, but the problem is that the remote needed to be within 12 feet or so from the transmitter. I am using a remote for the Yamaha RX-V1000 receiver. When using the remote directly with the receiver I get a range over 25 feet. Can anyone relate the range / experience they have had with the powermid or ir extender? Thanks.

:) I've used the Powermid from both X-10 (Smarthome) and from Radio Shack with great success. With a Pronto remote, I've been as far as 25 ft from the transmitter with no problems in IR signal transmission.
