I am Very Interested In Buying the Denon AVR-1804. However I Don't Want To Buy It And Then Have To Replace It Later On. I Want A Receiver That Will Last Me For A While. Any Feedback Would Be Appreciated.

Well, Joe, upgrading is a constant in the world of consumer electronics. What if you decide to get larger, more power-hungry speakers sometime in the future?

The 1804 is a good unit and is built well and provides enough power for most living rooms. It has a good, versatile feature set and should last you a nice long while. But what if you start itching for more?

The Denon is a good unit but I think the Harman/Kardons will offer you more for the money. See if you can find a AVR-125 or AVR-225 for around the same price. Harman just releaed it's new product lineup so they should be cheap, not to mention HK includes some of the best amps for any reciever available until you hit seperates IMO.

The Denon is an acceptable Receiver. As long as there are Pre-outs for the main speakers (front/center/sub), upgrading to separates in the future will be easy by adding amps to the fronts and center (this will add power and carity to the main drivers while taking the strain off of the receiver amp which can drive the rears easily).
Later, if you want to go to a separate Pre-pro, you'll already have the amps!

As of this last Friday I have been running the Denon 1804 and have been very happy with what it has brought to my HT. I run B&W 602 S3's along with the LCR 600 and multiple SVS subs. My priority in listening is HT and I wanted to brighten things up a little and the Denon did just what I wanted it to. I was trying to work out a deal on the H/k 525 but it sort of fell through.
