Was Excited when Fox released many of the Tyrone power films on regular dvd some time ago.
Two of them had very poor sound - Prince of Foxes and Captain from Castille.
The originals sounded great, but these are bad optical dupes. did they keep the originals I wonder/
Prince of foxes later got a blu with the same poor sound.
When living in L.A. I went to several showings at UCLA of their print of Captain from Castille - awesome sound !!!

Unfurling its Technicolor splendors onto 1080p hi-def Blu-ray comes “a sweeping,

majestic spectacle, one of Tyrone Power’s best. The colorful panorama captured by director

Henry King is often overwhelming. One of Fox’s great epics” (The Motion Picture Guide).

“A real dazzler…a complex look at class differences and the role of Spain’s corrupt Inquisitors…terrific Mexican location work…superb.”

– Glenn Erickson, DVDTalk.com

“A sweeping, majestic spectacle…one of Fox’s great epics.” TV Guide

A gorgeous, top-drawer Twentieth Century Fox spectacular, Captain from Castile (1947) – adapted from Samuel Shellabarger’s best-selling novel – offers Tyrone Power as a Castilian caballero, first a victim of the Spanish Inquisition, then a member of the Mexican expedition of Hernán Cortez (Cesar Romero). Along the way, he helps an Aztec slave (Jay Silverheels) and rescues a lively barmaid (Jean Peters) from the depredations of a cruel Inquisitor (John Sutton). Directed by veteran Henry King, and featuring a masterpiece of a score by the great Alfred Newman.

Hoisting its skull-and-crossbones flag on beautiful Blu-ray! Fresh off his adventurous

RELEASE DATE: TUESDAY, OCTOBER 17, 2017

“Not only a battle of wills, but a battle of bullets, swords, and concealed mantraps…a rollicking hubbub.” – Graeme Clark, The Spinning Image

“Christopher Lee gets some good screen time as a cultured French pirate clad completely in black, including his eye patch…Oliver Reed gets some attention as one of the pirate crew.” – Glenn Erickson, DVDTalk.com

Hammer Studios goes quasi-historical with The Pirates of Blood River (1962), with Kerwin Mathews starring as a Huguenot outcast taken up by a bloody band of pirates led by the elegant Frenchman, Captain LaRoche, incarnated by the great Christopher Lee. Oliver Reed, Glenn Corbett, Michael Ripper, and Peter Arne co-star; other Hammer regulars include director John Gilling and cinematographer Arthur Grant.

Now in beautifully blistering 1080p hi-def: “A real gem. Thoroughly enjoyable…with a wry, sarcastic humor and some crackling extended wordless action sequences. A lost classic.” (IndieWire). The veteran director of House of Wax and four great Randolph Scott Westerns helms a gritty World

War II suicide mission tale in the well-armed, smartly cast renegade mode of The Dirty Dozen.

“This 1968 desert caper, the last film directed by veteran Andre De Toth, ranks among his best work…carries to a poetic extreme the betrayal theme that haunts De Toth’s strongest films.”

– Fred Camper, The Chicago Reader

“One of the great under-known combat pictures, one which no less than Martin Scorsese has called a guilty pleasure.”

– Jeremy Arnold, TCM.com

A superb cast topped by Michael Caine, Nigel Green, and Harry Andrews highlights classic director André De Toth’s last film, Play Dirty (1968), a combat film set in North Africa during World War II. The “heroes” here are vile, unsympathetic loners operating outside the mainstream military, in a narrative that plays both ends against the middle. Shot by Edward Scaife (The Dirty Dozen), and featuring a score from the sensational Michel Legrand.

Saddling up for Blu-ray from writer/director Walter Hill: An “imaginatively offbeat Western

on a par with The Long Riders. Impressive for a thoughtful, daring spirit and a

charismatic hero. Jeff Bridges…gives a beautifully nuanced performance”

(Janet Maslin, The New York Times) at the head of a superb all-star cast.

Once they are gone – they are gone!

RELEASE DATE: TUESDAY, OCTOBER 17, 2017

“A class affair. Director Hill has dug deep into the Western myth and dredged up all its misbegotten souls.” – Ian Nathan, Empire

Wild Bill succeeds as a character study of a man whose idiosyncratic code of justice eventually catches up with him. Bridges’ performance is a masterstroke of squinty-eyed bitterness.”

– Bruce Fretts, Entertainment Weekly

The sublime writer-director Walter Hill’s Wild Bill (1995) focuses on the last days of mythic gunfighter, Wild Bill Hickok (Jeff Bridges), consorting in Deadwood with Calamity Jane (Ellen Barkin), observed by a longtime friend (John Hurt), and haunted by the ghosts of his past, from an old flame (Diane Lane) to a young man (David Arquette) who announces his intention to kill Bill.
