Hi Michael,
Politically the response was expectantly vague and the 'this' could have referred to a number of complaints I listed - including the simultaneous release of two different versions - as well as my observation that the Director would not have approved a cropped, stretched, and color manipulated version.
It was stated to me that:
You're probably are aware of this DVD marketing ploy - but I'd prefer not to divulge more.

Thanks, Gary. I do appreciate the need for discretion. I'm trying to compose some sort of postscript to the review that takes note of these issues so that someone doesn't have to read all the way to the end of the thread to be aware of them.
