I have a Philips DirecTV/Tivo that I just got back in early Sept. It holds like 30 hours of viewing, and that's just not enough if we go on vacation or something. How would I go about upgrading the machine? Obviously I can't just open the box and drop in a bigger hard drive. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Actually you can if you buy the drive from a place that specializes in Tivo upgrades. The cheaper way is to do it yourself though. Start reading here and you will find everything you need.

Indeed, you can pretty much open the box and drop in a new hard drive. I'd recommend a pre-blessed drive from a place like Weaknees. I got my second drive there and the instructions made things ridiculously easy. I think they have drives ranging from 60-120 hours with the 120 hour drive selling for about $200.
