HDTV line splitting (1 Viewer)

I'm not sure where exactly to post this but here's my question. I have Charter Digital cable with HDTV and a tivo. I would like to split the cable and send one line to the Tivo and the other to the Motorola HDTV cable box (unsure of the model # off the top of my head). I have tried to do this with a regular coax splitter from Monster, but lose the HD channels. I'm guessing this is because of noise introduced by the splitter or something. It's a high bandwidth splitter, 2 Ghz I think the label says. Any advice or information on the subject would be greatly appreciated.

I had this problem as well, you probably need a decent amplifier, thats what worked for me. Try running the amp from your source of the feed before the splitter so the signal is not degraded when you boost it.
