Hard Drive based music server? (1 Viewer)

I'm looking for a music server that HD based. I don't want to stream over my home network. I just want to rip CD's to the HD and have a user interface via the TV with search functions. I took a look at the Escient stuff but way too expensive. Any alternatives out there?

Lansonic, Request, Denon and a few others are out there, but there all expensive. A home PC is still the cheapest way out.
