The "Neighborhood" is subject to closure today! After 30 years of being a steady yet gentle influence on toddlers everywhere, Mr. Rodgers hangs up the sweater and puts away the sneakers.
Today is the very last original episode of the show...which will be in reruns for the duration of it's time on PBS. An era has passed.

Mr. Rodgers was always cool, but I always wondered about that mailman.

Wonder if we'll see Fred's sneakers and sweater show up on eBay anytime soon. That would be a shame; they belong in the Smithsonian!

As much as many of us have made fun of Mr. Rocgers, a lot of us watched it when we were kids. I'm going to watch this last episode now. First Bozo(the chicago Bozo) and now Mr. ROgers. Is the world coming to an end? Now what do kids have?

Mom has told me that I used to sit talk to you while I was watching your show. Your show and Sesame Street are still an unbeatable combination.
Peace,

Did anyone see the "Nightline" episode about him a few weeks ago? Very well done...wish I had taped it. As a child, I would curl up in front of the TV (after feigning illness on school days, of course) and watch Sesame Street and Mr. Rodger's Neighborhood. It's unfortunate that shows like this that have such a profound effect on a child's development are disappearing.

Maybe now he'll finally give us the scoop as to why he didn't change back into his outdoor gear at the end of the show. Those sneakers were too good to wear on non carpeted surfaces and he just went and ruined them day after day.

Farewell Fred, may your show live on forever. This along with The Street were the main sources of TV entertainment in my earlier days.
I just watched a tiny bit of a show the other day and realized what a f*cked up place the Neighborhood of Makebelieve is. Lady Elaine is scary.
Didn't Fred die a long time ago?

He already has a sweater @ the Smithsonian.
