"fuzzy" sound problem (1 Viewer)

I just noticed that it is clearly apparent in some songs that a certain "fuzziness" or scratchiness sometimes occures during music playback. I have a Panny RP-82 hooked up optically to a kenwood receiver. I think it might be because I had papers on my receiver and maybe caused an overheating problem. Is this likely the case or is something else to blame. Could this be a DVD player overheating issue or is it the cable. I really don't know where to start. I moved the cable but that does not seem to be the source. Any suggestions?

just wanted to add that this si not a constant scratchiness it only can be heard for a second and then not again for a little bit.
