...they are - the DVD-9 disc features four soundtracks (DD 5.1 French & English, DTS 5.1 French & English) as well as optional French & English subs - however, note that the extra is VOST, meaning Version originale, sous-titrée, which in turn means the subs for the extra are locked (and, of course, any textual extra will be in French only)...

Hmm... if you click on the coverart at Cinestore you can see a scan of the entire sleeve. It clearly only lists French subs on this DVD. I'd be happy to hear that there are English subs as well and thus that would indicate the subs are removeable but I'm skeptical. Do you own this release?

And you should be. In the past I ordered several French DTS dvd's from Cinestore. For instance Le Chocolat (Chocolat) which has obligatory French subtitles. In case of Dark City you can choose if you want them or not.

It's not always obvisious if a title contains removable subs.
