Final Cut Pro - anyone use it? (1 Viewer)

I'm trying to put some subtitles over video footage but whenever the titles pop up the background gets a little lighter, like the title layer has a light, semi-transparent background. But background opacity is set to 0 and I can't find where to make any more changes. Anyone know what the problem is?

You see this problem quite a bit on DVDs. There's really nothing you can do about it, but see if you can check your IRE settings.
