After 4½ long months of waiting , my new screen frame/cabinet front arrived for my PT-47WX52. The new frame does not have the felt tape that is on the perimeter of the inside of the frame on the old one. Any thoughts on exactly what purpose this felt tape serves and whether or not I should replace it with some other felt? It’s my guess that this felt tape is used to “cushion” the screens when tightening them down with the brackets. I can’t possibly imagine waiting another 4½ months just to get some felt tape. I found some peel and stick felt at a craft store that is a little thicker - I would just need to cut it into 3/8” wide strips. Thoughts?

Thanks in advance!

My guess would be it's to ensure a tight fit so outside light doesn't enter the cabinet.
