I'm sorry Steve, but the "four" Marx's only count as one. You must add 2 more to reach 10.

I don't know about Benny Hill having a U.S. sense of humour. The country just grew out of Carry-On movies - 'nuff said!
Actually Benny Hill probably didn't become any less popular but the political correctness levels got to the point where TV ditched a lot of stuff deemed unsuitable, including Miss World. (I believe political correctness had its good and bad points and these are personally good points.)
Today's list is:
1) Bill Hicks
2) Victoria Wood
3) Ade Edmonson
4) Bill Murray
6) Billy Crystal
7) Jessica Stevenson
8) Simon Pegg
9) Leslie Neilson
10) Rowan Atkinson
Any list that doesn't include Bill Hicks is a mistake.

After we read the posts today and yesterday, I re-polled the gang at Bellevue. The folks in straight jackets couldn't give a thumbs up, but gave a very big, "UUMMM, UUMMM, UUMMM, UUMMM" to Steve. He gets moved up to #6.

and Lenny Bruce gets his own place outside of any list since i never had the opportunity to see him live. his records show him to be a genius well ahead of his time, but it kills me that i missed out on seeing one of his banned shows.

Add Steve Martin to my list of comedians, the younger crazier funnier Steve of course, before he became domesticated.
ps. Eric say hi to the inmates for me, I'm still in my padded cell over here at Arkham, typing this with my toes, Inga Schlapple my nurse loves torturing me while I'm in my jacket, I don't mind really, except when she set fire to my jacket and ran out the room, the bitch, all I said was can I smoke....

Okay, I'll be the first to say it.
My favorite stand-up comedian is Robin Williams. Too bad he doesn't do stand-up anymore.
