I'm looking at making my own speakers cable using Cat5. Question. Is all Cat5 the same? I site that talks about the DIY cables uses Belden Cat5, yet I can't find a supplier in the area. Any input would be appreciated.

there are teflon versions available. the idea is to try and minimize the capacitance a bit which you'll get during the braiding process.

IF you want to talk to someone very knowledgable about DIY cables and who stocks all the RCA connectors, Belden cables, sheilds and insulators you could desire, I recommend take five audio canada. Give this site a look and tell me if it works out for you. Best of luck
